The Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel, which, on Friday, handed one-year bans to India's six top women athletes, in its findings concluded that the bottles of 'Ginseng Kinapi Pil' given by sacked coach Yuri Ogorodnik were contaminated and contained banned substances.
The athletes, Mandeep Kaur, AC Ashwini and Sini Jose, who were part of the 4x400 metres relay gold winning quartet at the Commonwealth and Asian Games, and Jauna Murmu, Priyanka Panwar and Tiana Mary Thomas, tested positive positive for anabolic steroids in May and June this year and were suspended, and their Ukrainian coach Yuri Ogorodnik was sacked.
Rejecting CBI's request to close the case against Telgi and three others, Additional Sessions Judge Dinesh Dayal said: "It appears that CBI had proceeded to file the closure report merely because the person who should have been an accused refused that he had accepted the money." No investigation has been made to establish whether money was received by him (Jeyaseelan - as part of his alleged collusion with the accused)," the court said.
